Let me start by saying this...
I am a crafter, an artist, and a part time teacher. The worse things to be if you want to keep a clean and un cluttered house (IMO, mostly cuz the crafter and artist are hoarders by nature, and the teacher part of me often looses time) so when I have a chance to minimize the crap in this house I do! I got the urge to clean so what did I do, I cleaned and the WHOLE time I am cleaning the kitchen my husband is standing there with our male room mate watching me pull the stove out and sweep, and mop behind it. Wash the walls around it and bring it back to clean standards.
What made my day in this is when my husband said "Why do that? If you can't see it why clean it?" OMG Really? You own a restaurant and you really just said that? Why clean it? Well lets start with the first point.
1. It is dirty, you clean dirty things. I might not see it but I know the last time (6 months ago) that I pulled the stove out was the last time I cleaned it, Do I think you boys have done it since. NO! In fact I know you haven't. So why wouldn't I clean it?
2. Because if you leave dust bunnies (we have two dogs, and a cat they shed dust bunnies) under something like the stove they will smell after a bit. No amount of air freshener or cleaning around it will stop that smell from smelling.
3. And lastly because I can, ultimately it is because I can. I paid extra for the ability of my stove to be able to move on it's own for this reason. I want to be able to clean under and behind it as things spill and as I work in my kitchen. Why wouldn't I want that? It makes ME FEEL GOOD to have MY KITCHEN the way I want it! They keep telling me they are not cleaning the kitchen cuz it is mine? Well let me do as I wish.
Of course I didn't say anything to them aside from "Because it is dirty!" So that was fine they nodded and continued to criticize me on it! What why? If you want to have an opinion why pick when I am cleaning to have it? So here I sit behind my stove hidden from there view crying cuz they are being mean to me over this. They don't think there "jesting" is being mean, but it is. I finally wipe my eyes on my shirt hem and finish the work behind the stove. I was clearly crying, your eyes take on a different colour and look when you cry, as we all know! Yet they look at me and say nothing. So I push my stove back and start to sweep up the mess that it created. And go to put it in the trash as I ask my husband to put the other two grates (the spares for the stove and the one for my convection microwave) in storage.
He started to tell me to keep them here. Does he realize I wash these two LARGE grates once a month? And put them back to get dirty and grimy again? NO! I don't use them, and you don't cook so put them to storage as I ask! He started to fight with me. "There is no room!" What? REALLY? I just cleaned the storage room and purged over 90% of what was down there, there is A LOT of room, your just too lazy to put them down there.
His reasoning, leave them with the items they are for. Okay I get that reason, really I do, but I am tired of washing them cuz they look ugly and smell ugly beside my stove. I don't like having to wash them every time something spills between the stove and counter. And I really hate being told how to store my kitchen. I don't use them, I haven't used them in 5 years (that is right for the past 5 years I have washed these two pieces of the stove once a month and NEVER used them!) So all I ask is to put them down stairs in storage. There is room for two grates, I know this cuz I cleaned it!
He tried to tell me I will forget what they are for. Well I asked him if he knew what they belonged too. He got the silver one for the stove right but had no CLUE about the black one for my microwave. I had to laugh at him. He didn't know what it was and still tried to tell me what to do with it? HELL NO! Put it in the basement!
I quit, I hate this so much, they wont help and when they try they make it worse. These men can't care for themselves to save there lives. Why must I have 3 kids, and 3 animals to care for? REALLY I didn't sign up for two big babies!
Go back to your own work room and leave me to clean and do as I Ask!
